Missed Opportunity

All day, I was looking forward to seeing what was being billed as "the biggest moon of 2009". Made it a point to be at Del Valle Regional Park in Livermore this evening at around sunset. I had never been to this park before - all I knew about it was that a nice lake happens to be one of the park's centerpieces. Just outside the park, I passed by (my big mistake as I would find out later..) some people setting up to take some pictures of what seemed to be a beautiful sunset in the making. At the time, I was thinking I could get a better picture of both the sunset and moonrise from inside the park - maybe even get a picture of their reflection off the lake. Well, I was wrong. As anyone who has been to Lake Del Valle probably knows, the lake is pretty much surrounded by hills - not the best place to see a sunset, or a moonrise for that matter. Anyhow, today's picture sums up how I feel about my picture taking "field trip" this evening... no color, no sunset, no moon... nada.
