Yet another "Dollar Dog Wednesday" • Oakland A's vs. Los Angeles Angels • McAfee Coliseum • Oakland, CA • 9.17.08

Regret. Although the A's have been playing great baseball as of late, we have gotten into the bad habit of leaving the games before they are over. Being it a "school night" tonight, and because "wimpy" me is battling a cold, we decided to call it a night after the A's batted in the 7th inning. At this point, the A's were winning 1-0. No "real" baseball fan in their right mind would leave a game at this point. But we did. As we were cruising home along on the 580 freeway near Livermore, the game reached the top of the 9th - the Angels came up for their final at-bat with the score still 1-0. Heartbreak soon came, as the Angels' scored 2 runs to take the lead ... 2-1. This forced the A's to bat in the bottom of the 9th. Now as we were entering the city limits of Tracy, the A's pulled off the impossible - with the help of some luck and an error by the opponent... victory over the playoff-bound Angels 3-2. Nothing beats the excitement of seeing a team win in the bottom of the 9th live and in person. So you can imagine that we're kicking ourselves for missing the end of this game!

Oh yeah, if it's Wednesday, it must've been "Dollar Dog Wednesday"! Right up until game time, I was afraid that there would be more players in the coliseum than fans. After all, $1 hot dogs and $2 seats usually brings a hoard of people. Although the pictures don't show it, a decent sized crowd did eventually show up - and those "real" baseball fans who stayed until the very end were rewarded.

If you consider yourself one of those "real" baseball fans, tune in tomorrow for a "baseball oddity" video that I captured tonight. If you're not one of these people, check in tomorrow anyways, and see what little it takes to amuse the "real" baseball fan species.
