Monday's Word of the Day: "Fummer"

In much of California, this past weekend featured temperatures hovering near 80º (some places even warmer). Although the calendar says it's November and that the season is fall, one could have easily mistaken these past few days as summer. So, to ease this confusion, days such as these will now be known as "Fummer" days, and it will be defined as such...

Main Entry: 1fum·mer
Pronunciation: \duh, sound it out\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English fumer, from Old English fumor; akin to Old High German & Old Norse fumer fummer, ah hell, there’s no such word.
Date: sometime before today I'm sure.
1 : the season between spring and winter comprising in the northern California region usually the months of October and November or as reckoned to confuse those into thinking that it’s summer, when it is really fall, but you could have sworn that it was indeed summer. But, not really.
2 : the warm day in fall, making one think that it is summer.
3 : would you rather call it “sall”?

Although Sunday morning found me inside cleaning up my junk closet, I quickly became afflicted with "cabin fever" and escaped to the outside world to enjoy this beautiful "fummer" weather. While the yard was in desperate need of being tidied up a bit, I really didn't mind the labor at all. Where else can you enjoy beautiful 80º weather just a week and a half before Turkey Day?

Watch out Webster - Eric's coming out with his own dictionary! Loving this fummer weather - too bad we can't share it with everyone out East!
