Friday Blog Trivia #7: Hawaii Edition

It is my hope that while you are frantically searching the far reaches of cyberspace, I am laying out somewhere here in Oahu, studying the insides of my eyelids, as my shave ice melts away in my hand! Now, that's not nice! Honestly, with the weekend in sight, I hope that your Friday is going well, and that you are prepared for this Friday’s Blog Trivia... with a Hawaiian theme, of course! This week, I’ve put together 6 questions - with 2 of these having multiple parts. Prizes will be awarded differently this week. The first 5 people to completely and correctly post the answer all 6 questions before 6pm PST/9pm EST tonight, will win a prize from Hawaii! To be fair, however, the first winning entry will receive an added bonus! So, let's get right down to business.

Here are your questions:

1. Hawaii is larger than 7 other U.S. states. Name these seven (7) states.

2. Measured from base to summit, name the mountain that is the tallest in the world.

3. During the mid-to-late 19th century, King Kamehameha V sold this island. Today, it remains a privately-owned island. Name this island.

4. Hawaiian folklore tells a tale of a small (in stature), yet industrious group of people who roamed the forests at night. Although considered mythic, a few of these people officially appeared in this Hawaiian island's 1820 census. Name this group of people and the island where they appeared on this 1820 census.

5. Presently, the only royal palace in the United States, this residence had two modern conveniences installed in it before the White House did! Please answer these 3 (three) parts: Name this palace, the island on which it is located, and two “luxuries” it had installed before the White House did.

6. Greg, Peter and Bobby have something that Professor Whitehead wants.
This is a four-part question - you must answer all 4 (four) parts to get full credit.
(a) What television show does this statement refer to?
(b) In this television show, who is the actor that portrays Professor Whitehead?
(c) What does Professor Whitehead want from the three boys?
(d) In this 3-part episode, what character originally found what Professor Whitehead wants?

Good Luck!

Didn't the boys actually meet up with Professor Whitehead in the cave when they were trying to return the idol? I can't remember - did you bring your Brady Bunch boxed set to Hawaii so that you can confirm?

Unknown said...

sorry for the delay... the wireless connection here is a little goofy. So close cranzilla, but bronxbombers also correctly identified where the Menehune were found in the 1820 census.
