Friday Blog Trivia #4: Area Code 718

The (718) area code encompasses a large part of New York City. In fact, you can find this area code widespread in 4 of the city’s 5 boroughs - The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island. The 5 question trivia quiz this week touches on landmarks found in these four boroughs. Like the past two weeks, today, there are 5 questions to answer. The first to post the correct answer to all five questions, will collect this week’s prize - a limited-edition “Puppy Playing Cards” $5 gift card to Target. So, good luck!

Here are your questions:
The Bronx
1. On average, during each of the past 3 seasons, the Yankees and Yankee Stadium have hosted over 4 million fans. Back in 1966, the stadium held almost 10,000 more fans than it can hold today. Unfortunately, during the mid-1960’s to early 70’s, the Yankees were a team in decline. During a late September game in 1966, the Yankees played in front of a stadium record-low 413 fans! Can you name the team the Yankees were playing that day?

Queens
2. Where can you find a giant 582 pound apple in Queens?
Brooklyn
3. On view until October 13, 2008, this piece of public art can be seen beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. What is it called, and name the artist who designed it.

4. Coney Island’s famous roller coaster, the Cyclone, has been in operation since 1927. What was the name of the roller coaster which previously occupied its space?
Staten Island
5. Foot and bicycle passengers ride the Staten Island Ferry for free. How much does it cost to bring your automobile aboard the ferry?

Yeah, really! I tried to sleep in on my day off :), but the collective (MA & NY/NJ) grinding noise of the hamster wheel from 3000+ miles away jarred me from my bed!

Stinky are you a little bitter, that you didn't get on early enough.

I don't think it would've mattered what time Stinky got on. He's still making his way around Pangaea.

Sheesh, a day late and a dollar short once again. Gotta remember to set my alarm to 3 freekin' a.m. next week. I would have never gotten the answers right this week anyway. I thought the drawing was a discombobulated alligator. Yeah, go figure, that's what I get for working with lawyers 24/7!!

I'm with Bronxbombers- I don't get up early enough. The trivia moderator won't tell me ahead of time what the questions are, and by the time I wake up on my day off, the prize has already been won. Not fair!
