Golf with Bob & Danny • Las Positas Golf Course • Livermore, CA • 6.19.08

This week’s silliness comes to an end tomorrow, as I head back to school for the beginning of the summer session (teachers only, students begin on Monday). As vacation weeks go, this one was somewhat productive - spending a good chunk learning more about my camera (and partner-in-crime). Today, I met up with Bob and his son, Danny, for a round of golf on the 9-hole Executive Course at Las Positas in lovely Livermore, CA. For the most part, the holes are short (2 or 3 holes over 200 yards long, with the rest approximately 180 and below.), and the course is well maintained - with some nice lake and sand hazards. Nine holes was pretty much the limit for all of us today, as sun beat down on us and the temperatures stayed in the upper 90’s throughout the round. I’m sure that I’ll be paying for this tomorrow as, like the dolt that I am, I was once again pretty lax about putting sunscreen on. Below, I’ve posted some pictures from the day. You will notice what appears to be an airport in some of the shots. This is because adjacent to Las Positas is the Livermore Municipal Airport. Here, during the entire round, the Outback Blimp was practicing it’s landings and takeoffs. Though he lives nearby, John Madden (sports broadcaster/Outback investor) probably wasn’t piloting this behemoth..... for obvious reasons. (Google “Madden Cruiser” & “Madden fear of flight” if it’s not obvious, although the reasons are pretty obvious now...... did I make that too obvious?)
